In May 2021, starting the tourist season, we offer travelers a new and exciting route through military heritage sites in Estonia and Latvia – museums, fortifications, military equipment, trails, bunkers, battlefields, military cities, infrastructure, memorial sites compiled in the Military Heritage Tourism brochure and map.

“The history of Latvia and Estonia has a lot in common, starting with the common struggles for independence, through both World Wars and the Soviet era, when we were on the western border of the Iron Curtain. In order to preserve this history and stories, many military heritage sites are now adapted to tourism, offering modern expositions and fascinating stories, ”says Jana Kalve, the Military heritage project manager of the Kurzeme Planning Region.

Tourist brochures and maps with 150 military heritage sites in Estonia and Latvia have been published in 5 languages (Latvian, English, Estonian, German and Russian) and can be downloaded at https://militaryheritagetourism.info/lv/info/publications . Paper edition are available free of charge at Kurzeme Tourism Information Centers, at tourism information providers in several municipalities, as well as at most military heritage tourism sites. A total of about 7,000 brochures are available in Kurzeme!
