On December 16, 2021, the launch event of the project “Business Support Measures in the Kurzeme Planning Region” took place. The event was attended by almost 30 participants, representing the municipalities of the Kurzeme region, other planning regions of Latvia, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, the Latvian Investment and Development Agency, as well as other institutions and companies.

The event was opened by Evita Ozoliņa, Head of the Kurzeme Planning Region Administration, Artūrs Toms Plešs, Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of the Republic of Latvia, Elita Cakule, Head of Department of International Projects at The Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities, Baiba Kūma, Project Manager and Manager of the Kurzeme Planning Region Business Support Center, highlighting the importance of Latvian-Norwegian co-operation and project implementation for the balanced development of the region. The exchange of experience plays an important role in increasing the competitiveness of companies, as it is important for both countries to find new ways of developing business.

Also the project partners presented the activities planned within the project in order to achieve the project goal – to reduce the differences in the level of socio-economic development and ensure balanced development in the Kurzeme planning region, promoting business development. At the end of the event, Rimants Safonovs, Senior Project Manager of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency Kuldiga Business Incubator, introduced the seminar participants to the activities and goals of business incubators, as well as cooperation opportunities within the project “Business Support Measures in Kurzeme Planning Region”.

Although the event was organised online, the participants were glad for the the opportunity to discuss about the project implementation and ask questions to the project partners. Participants of the launch event confirmed the importance of cooperation rather than competition, because working together helps to implement great things
