S002 “BSR Food Coalition”

On 25-26 October 2022 the first meeting of project partners under the “BSR Food Coalition” project took part at Klaipeda University.

On the first day the project partners came together to discuss the next project implementation steps, as well as the first project survey on school food situation in each of the partner’s regions, which is planned to be compiled from the answers of 2 different  questionnaires channelled to school administrations, school-children and their parents in order to receice the feedback on a number of important questions. In addition, it was agreed to hold a focus-group meeting in each of the partner regions with the particiation of local farmers to talk of the problems they face in relation to their product deliveries to schools, participation in public procurements etc.

On the second day an international hybrid-event took place with the participation of Finninsh and Swedish lecturers as well, where more than 70 participants took part. Project partners presented the work to be done as part of the project and general school food situation in their regions. The international lecturers shared some best practice examples and tools (such as StratKIT), which help to facilitate healthy eating habits and to increase locally grown food presence in school meals.

From Kurzeme, meeting was attended by representatives of Kurzeme Planning Region, catering service provider “Saltums” Ltd., Latvian Rural and Agricultural Advisory Centre Liepāja branch, Striķi primary school, South Kurzeme County Municipality and Tukums County Municipality.
