Despite fragmentation over many centuries, the largest balts’ tribes – Curonians, Semigallians, Selonians, Lettigalians, Samogitians, Aukštaitians, Prussians and Yotvingians – managed to protect themselves against the attacks of their neighbours, and were the last tibes in Europe to resist the German conquerors. The fame of  Balts’ warriors echoed across the Baltic Sea – Scandinavians begged God to defend them against Curonians, ancient forests of Samogitia – deep and impenetrable,  protected the Samogitians for many centuries.

Over time, most of the balts’ tribes disappeared, yet the balts’ hisotry and customs have been inherited in Latvians and Lithuianians. We, Latvians and Lithuianians, as the balts’ descentants, must protect the fragile and unique balts’ history and culture, learn about it ourselves and pass the knowledge to history and culture enthusiasts of other nations!
