LLI-447 “Explore Balts”

On 3-4 September, as part of the Explore Balts project, tourism specialists from Kurzeme and representatives of the cultural route’s – Batlts Road – Couronian Loop Segment visited Lithuania to meet with their LT colleagues, share experience and get acquainted with the tourism offers provided on the route in our neighbouring country.

On the trip participants visited a number of nature objects – ancient valleys and hillforts which once served as fortifications and were important centres of local settlements, museums with their valuable archaeological findings of the life of ancient Balts, asl well as participated in educational programmes provided by the museums on ancient crafts by creating different household items from birch bark and preparing traditional dishes. In the new Balts’ Centre in Šiauliai  we visited the interactive exposition about the ancient Balts’ life, visited the Ancient Beekeeping Museum in Aukštaitija and the unusual, modern, breathtaking Lithuanian Museum of Ethnocosmology. It must be admitted that both, the Balts’ Centre in Šiauliai and the Ancient Beekeeping Museum, as well as the Lithuanian Museum of Ethnocosmology left an extremely good impression with their exciting and creative expositions, which we gained inspiration and true enjoyment from. We definately recommend those who are interested in the cultural route “Balts’ road” to visit these wonderful objects, which will be interesting for both, adults an d children to learn about our ancestors and past!
