EE-LV00057 – Green Railway II

Project Objective: 

  • Project aims to increase access to the product and related services for different target groups, such as children, parents of young children, the elderly and people with disabilities (incl. temporary),as well as to incorporate social innovation, inclusion and accessibility into product and service design process. Project continues to further develop cross border tourism product, Green Railways (GR), by adding value to the existing GR routes and sites, developing and linking new routes and sites to the product.

Project Results

Joint solutions will be taken up or up-scaled in the following domains during the project or within 1 year after its completion:

  1. design and set-up of trails and signing;
  2. design and set-up of attractions and their physical accessibility;
  3. design and set-up of inclusive services;
  4. design and set-up of information dissemination and education tools.

All partners of the project (12) and umbrella organisations of the target groups will continue to work together after project completion, to ensure the sustainability of Green Railways tourism product. Project partners will also continue to work together with target group representing organizations toward further improvement of their sites. It is expected that the guidance document together with solutions created with help of pilots and also good examples of the investments sites implementing solution with this project, will motivate other Green Railways sites to work more efficiently toward more inclusive and accessible sites.

Project partners will sign cooperation memorandum to ensure cooperation after project lifetime.

 Financing:

  • The total budget of the project is EUR 1 179 970.00, of which the ERDF Interreg VI-A Estonia-Latvia Programme co-financing is EUR 943 976.00.
  • The total project budget of the Kurzeme Planning Region is EUR 82 150.00, of which ERDF Interreg VI-A Estonia-Latvia co-financing is EUR 65 720.00.
