From August 28th to 30th, 2023, in Pori, Finland, the kickoff meeting for the Interreg Central Baltic program project “Tour4Youth” was held. The event was organized by the lead partner, Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (referred to as SAMK), in order to discuss and initiate the planned activities of the project in collaboration with other partners, including Tartu Vocational Education Centre in Estonia, Kurzeme Planning Region and Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences in Latvia, and Satakunta Employment and Economic Development Office in Finland. Additionally, it provided an excellent opportunity to meet and get acquainted with the project partners in person, as the project preparation meetings took place online.

The project “Tour4Youth” is being implemented to enhance employment opportunities in the tourism, hospitality, and restaurant industries for young people living in rural areas of the Central Baltic Sea region. The social role of these industries in engaging young people in the labor market is highly significant. It encourages young individuals to build their careers in these sectors in the long term, rather than seeking employment abroad or in fields unrelated to their education. The project elevates the competitiveness of young people in the labor market by providing them with diverse and targeted labor market services.
